Keith Barber supports the firm’s SEC and Banking and Financial Institutions practices. His work with CFO Consulting Partners includes: assisting a $1 billion public community bank prepare it’s SEC and regulatory reporting; assisting a community bank restate 10-Qs and prepare its SEC filings prior to being acquired; resolving SEC reporting issues at another community bank; providing Board/Audit Committee advice; providing regulatory reporting guidance; developing liquidity & bank accounting policies; preparing quality assessments of accounting departments; post M&A integration, as well as other senior-level accounting and finance services.
Keith is a senior financial executive with over thirty-five years of domestic and international experience. As CFO or Controller, he has partnered with bank managements to grow businesses and confront challenges. He is currently an independent Director & Audit Committee Chairman on the board of a bank in the Midwest. He was CFO of American Express Bank, a $12 billion bank engaged in corporate, consumer & private banking business in more than 30 countries, where he streamlined the finance function, oversaw strategic planning & cost management, restructured a $1.5 billion securities portfolio, launched a debt issuance, and improved management information & controls. Subsequently, Keith helped start up a credit card bank (now Barclaycard US) and, as Controller, built its finance function. Prior to American Express Bank, he was twenty years at Citibank, ultimately as Controller of one of Citibank’s three major business sectors: Institutional & Investment Banking & Trading in the Major Markets. His Citibank experience also included: head of analytical support for the company’s CFO; responsibility for the company’s SEC reporting; Deputy Controller for UK, Ireland & Scandinavia operations; and Admin Officer for the UK trading activities.
Keith holds a BS in Economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from London Business School.
