Dave Northrup is a Director focusing on our professional services practice as well as assisting in other industries. He has over 35 years of experience both in public accounting and the private sector. During his career he has been an agent for change and helped drive improving and implementing new systems and processes, upgrading financial staff and reporting and analysis, establishing accountability in budgets and forecasts, implementing best practices in billing and collections to improve cash flow, supported mergers and acquisitions and led cross functional teams in integrating acquired businesses into core systems and processes. Dave was also instrumental in driving a change in the use of office space and dramatically reducing the amount of space needed and helped in creating a new work environment with more team space and implementing shared space practices.
Dave has been the NE Regional Finance and Operations leader for RSM and previously served as the CFO for both Rothstein Kass and Geller & Company, helping them improve financial operations, upgrade systems and processes, improve financial reporting and budgeting and improved billing and collection processes. He started his career in public accounting as an auditor for EY in the NJ office working on private and public companies in banking, manufacturing, retail, and education. He moved into the private sector to Paramount Communications initially as an internal auditor and transitioned to mergers and acquisitions. After working on numerous acquisitions of publishing companies Dave transferred to Simon & Schuster and helped lead a cross functional team in implementing financial integrations of several of the acquired companies. He then had progressive roles including being a group controller for a $400 million professional publishing group.
Dave earned his BBA degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. He is an Eagle Scout and has been active in Scouting for over 40 years. Member of AICPA and NJSCPA and is a CPA (inactive) in NJ.
